On March 24, 2018 I was sexually assaulted. I was a student at the University of Nebraska, and school was always my biggest priority. The effects of being raped were debilitating. My depression and anxiety became so bad that I could hardly go on campus without an anxiety attack, I couldn't sit through a whole class, and I couldn't concentrate on anything. I lost all motivation, which felt like I was losing myself. I dropped some classes, failed others, and finally decided to leave school and move home to San Diego. Without the support of my family, friends, and an organization that worked with UNL called Voices of Hope, I would not have survived.
On March 24, 2019 I will be running the LA marathon. I am raising money for a similar organization, called Strength United. Strength United is an organization through CSUN that works with victims of domestic and sexual violence. Part of what they do is supporting victims of sexual assault, much like Voices of Hope did for me. I hope that by donating money, I can make a difference in another victim's recovery, and I would really appreciate if any of you could donate to my page, or even just share my story.
I've created this page because I want to make a difference. I'm inspired by the work of Strength United - California State University - Northridge Foundation and wanted to support them by raising money as part of my participation in STRENGTH UNITED Los Angeles Marathon and LA Big 5K Team. Please help me help them by giving whatever you can using the 'Give Now' button. The more people that know about Strength United - California State University - Northridge Foundation, the greater their impact, so please also spread the word by sharing my page with your friends and family. Thank you in advance for your generosity, it means a lot!
